We are all familiar with the fact that sodium bicarbonate is white in color and often appears as a fine powder. It has a slightly salty, alkaline taste that is composed of sodium and bicarbonate ions. It was first discovered in Berlin at the College of Medicine in 1800, by two employees.

Baking soda was imported from Europe until the United States began producing it themselves, in 1839 and was first utilized in the United States during colonial times.

The Magic Baking Soda: Things You Didn’t Know Baking Soda Could Do

  1. Bee stings

When bees or wasps sting a person, they inject venom through their stinger into the skin of the victim.

If you are not allergic to bees, clean the area with soap and water and then apply a paste made of water and baking soda to break down bee venom and to help soothe itchy skin.

2. Body Oder

Sodium bicarbonate is amphoteric. It reacts with substances that have either strong acid or base pH. Sodium bicarbonate reacts with those particles and neutralizes them by making them less acidic.

It is easy to makes a semi-solid stick of deodorant similar to stick deodorants you can find in stores—minus all the chemicals. One recipe may include virgin coconut oil, Shea butter, arrowroot powder (or cornstarch), baking soda and an optional 1-2 drops of your favorite quality essential oil.

3. Alkalizing pH

This treatment is primarily used to treat cancer of the digestive tract, including other types of cancers as well: cancers of the throat, colon, intestines, rectal area, and other cancers in between.

Cancerous cells cannot survive in an alkaline environment so it is a fast way to stunt any growth.

For someone who weighs 170 pounds, the recommended dosage would be 4-6 tsp. daily for a general detox and for maintenance, 1-2 tsp. of Baking Soda daily to maintain a proper pH of 7.4.

A healthy pH level should be 7.4. You need a pH of 8.5 for several days or perhaps longer to force cancer to die. Until your cancer starts to die and tumors begin to shrink, you should consider keeping your pH between 8.0 and 8.5.

Once your test results reveal your cancer is gone, reduce your intake of baking soda to keep your pH level within the healthy range, about 7.4.

4. Teeth whitener and general oral health

Recent controlled clinical studies found that toothpaste containing baking soda “enhanced plaque removal effectiveness of tooth brushing to a significantly greater extent” than brushing with a non-baking soda toothpaste.

For a natural way to whiten your teeth, mash one ripe strawberry and mix it with ½ a teaspoon of baking soda. Spread the mixture onto your teeth and leave it on for five minutes. Then brush your teeth and rinse. This method should be used no more than once a week, as it could potentially damage your tooth enamel with excessive use. This mixture is also incredibly effective at killing bacteria.

5. Acid Reflux, heart burn and stomach pain

Over the counter and prescription medications come with numerous unwanted side effects. Baking soda, having an alkaline pH, helps to naturally neutralize the excess acid that causes these discomforts.

½ teaspoon fully dissolved in a half a glass of water, taken every two hours (do not take more than seven ½ teaspoons in 24 hours, or three ½ teaspoons if you’re over 60).
